Well, according to tracking my Panny has been out for delivery since 10.20 and STILL isn't here! Doesn't Mr White Van Man know that I have cleared a worktop space and got all my ingredients ready and waiting? If anyone sees him can you tell him to HURRY UP! (as you can see I will not be able to wait till I have moved house in 10 days to use it!)
BTW - how lush does that tomato olive bread look! getting even more excited - lol£2021 in 2021... £253.86/£20210 -
He's just gone past me Babs hopefully he won't be much longer
I'm very jealous of the price you paid, the 2nd hand ones are going for nearly that on the bay of E!! I wish I'd known I would have got one of those instead of getting the SD-254, mind you I can't complain for £25 so far it's been perfectI think I may have to put a few ££ away each month though just in case it breaks so I can replace it without having to worry about the cost.
I did my first timer loaf yesterday it was just beeping as I got in from work, I was a bit worried in case it didn't turn out as well but I've just had a slice for lunch and it was yumLBM 24/05/2012 :TAugust NSD 10/12 * £2 savers0 -

The paddle in my old Panasonic SD255 is starting to move a bit too much and the pan is less non-stick than it used to be so... I've been looking for a replacement.
As I didn't really use the seed dispenser I thought I'd give the 2500 a go:

John Lewis still has it at £59.99 - but out of stock online... but I called my local store and they had them in stock - reserved and collected today - an absolute bargain :j.
Just trying my first loaf and will compare it to the one I made this morning in my old SD255.
Just a little worried though as the flour for the large wholemeal is 500g in the new one whereas it's 475g in the old one but the pans are the same size - fingers crossed it's just as good.
Has anyone that's made the switch noticed any difference?:hello:0 -
I'm not having a good day with my panny
(all my own fault) first loaf forgot the salt & too much water = brick
Second attempt couldn't get the loaf size button to work, because I wasn't pressing the select button firstLBM 24/05/2012 :TAugust NSD 10/12 * £2 savers0 -

There have been a few posts about the change in recipe formulation - for those who don't know the "early" machines ie SD-253 and before use 1 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp milk powder for many of the Medium sized loaves, whereas the SD-254 and later use 1 tsp sugar and no milk powder at all, and compensate by using 3/4 tsp yeast rather than 1/2 tsp.
Does anyone know if the machine programming has been changed to match the change in ingredients? I'd like to be able to use the later recipies in my SD-251 and SD-253, they sound like they would make better tasting bread.
Also in the Dough section the SD-253 and earlier include recipies for naan and pitta bread which the later ones seem to omit- this is a shame as the naan is really nice.0 -
Also bought the Argos Cooksworks slicer today, oh how disappoited was that. It has snagged and torn my lovely loaf. It will be going straight back tomorrow.
I got one of those Jasmin when they were on offer for a tenner and thought it was great. Unfortunately i broke it, i didn't realise but the paddle from my Panny was still stuck in the bread and when i tried slicing it it wouldn't so through steel and the plastic cogs in the slicer broke. I'm back to using the electric knife now.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Following advice on this and other Panasonic threads, I managed to track down a very old model second-hand to find out whether we wanted a breadmaker - and I love it! I have two questions, and I've searched the thread but can't find any other people who've had the same problems.
1. I made a pizza dough in the breadmaker last night, used half of it to make a pizza which I then topped and cooked in the oven. My pizza dough never, ever cooks in the middle when I do this, so what I am doing wrong? Should I be pre-baking the nude pizza base? Or is it possible that mozarella is just too watery? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
2. I'd love to try the Anchovy and Sun Dried Tomato loaf today, but I don't have any Brown flour - only wholemeal or white. I'd prefer it as a white loaf anyway which is why I don't have any brown. What are people's views on this?Better is good enough.0
