My father is in receipt of attendance allowance but owing to having macular degeneration (dry type) he has been sent a form DPD138 from the DWP and needs to get this fill out to apply for an extra allowance. He has recently been sent a for CV1 - Certificate of a Person of Sight Impaired/partially sighted/blind, im not sure which one applies to him but it is signed by a Consultant at the Nuffield Clinic. The question is what should he do next as he cant fill out the form on his own, should i do it or would DWP send someone to help. Also is there anything else he should be applying for now he is in receipt of this certificate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Judy2357, probably the best thing to do is ring the DWP directly and ask their advice on this. They are very helpful and it may be possible that they could arrange for someone to come out and help your Father to complete the forms. They may also be able to advise you on anything else your Father could apply for. Hope this helps.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Hi Eliza
Have done this and they suggested i ring the CAB which I have done and they are going to ring and give my father an appointment so hopefully it will be sorted soon. I shall be going to the CAB with him so will ask if we should be doing anything else to help him. Thanks for your help. If anyone has any other suggestions of any benefits that may apply I should be grateful.
