2008 NatWest Graduate Account

Hi
I graduated at the start of July and have had a NatWest student account (with £1400 interest free overdraft, now) all through Uni
I asked about how/when this account becomes a graduate account in the branch and have also phoned - they kept saying I should get a letter in July. Its august and i haven't had a letter!
I am quite keen to get my extra £2000 int-free overdraft and want to know when the account will change?
Does anybody know? anybody in the same boat, or anybody heard when this is going to happen?
cheers

Hi there,
I was in exactly the same position. I extended my overdraft with Natwest from 1250 in the first year to 1400 in the second and finally 1600 in the third. I did recieve a letter (in June) saying that my account would be upgraded from a Student to Graduate account in July, though it did not specify exactly when.
Having contacted the branch I found out eventually that August 1st was the exact day it would switch. I requested an extension to 2000 on August 3rd about 2pm and it was available 9am the next day. Incidentally I graduated July 17th, after you, so your account should have switched by now.
In case you are wondering about online banking, even though it had been upgraded the account still had /STU added to the name - which was removed completely when I requested the overdraft extension.
One final thing- I got the extension by phone only, I didn't have to show my degree certificate- and to do it I was given a number from the people at Natwest 24 (0845 609 0000). Can't find it though!
Hope this helps!

Be careful extended your overdraft when you have finished your course, if they don’t begin to see some steady income they start to reduce it again, which can leave some unexpected overdraft fees.
I got stung like this, it’s the only reason I point it out. I had a letter saying they had tried to contact me via phone unsuccessfully, and they requested I pay £1500 back in a lump sum.
It was only after pleading with them they allowed me to pay £170 a month, but this still made for a rather tight year financially.0
