Yes either the original creditor can or the DCA, not both at the same time though,GameOver wrote:Can debt collection agencies register things on my file?
Everything on my file is from original creditors, even though they have been passed on?

I have one default registered on my file twice, once by the original creditor, and once by the DCA.
The original creditor has the default registered against my old address, and the DCA has a default registered against my new address. Both addresses are linked on my file.
From what you say above, there should only be one default, who do I need to contact to get one of them removed from the CRA's? Is it even possible?
Cheers, Des.

Yes it is possible, contact the Credit Referance Agencys and register a "notice of dispute" over the default at the old address, include detail of the fact that 2 defaults are registered.DesG wrote:I have one default registered on my file twice, once by the original creditor, and once by the DCA.

If the original creditor has "sold" or transferred this debt then they are no longer able to submit data relating to it.
If they fail to comply then the case will need to be escalated to the Information Commissioners Office who deal with Data Protection Act enforcement, in this case it should be a fairly simple case as there is a clear breach of the act. It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0
