DVLA and Royal Mail

I have been sorting out my Grans driving licence this morning and have been ready to scream! As she is in her 80s she has to renew her driving license every few years.
Its now over a month since I helped her fill in the form for renewal and sent it off to the DVLA, we never heard anything within the 3 weeks that they said to allow so I rang them and they said it was sent out a fortnight since but they will send it again. It still hadnt come this morning so I rang the DVLA and they said that they had sent it but both had been returned undelivered by the Royal Mail.
The DVLA then put me through to someone else who I had to go through all the data protection again as it wasnt my licence - and they said that the postcode I was saying was my Grans was not matching the one that they were trying to send the driving licence to and that was why it kept being returned. They would not tell me what they had on record, but I told them on the previous licence I had in front of me the address was right! They said it was just the last 3 digits that were wrong.
I can only assume that somewhere at their end there has been a ***k up!
So in effect, the name was right, the house number and street was right, the village was right, the town was right and the first half of the postcode was right but the Royal Mail couldnt deliver it?!
I have had to fax the DVLA on behalf of my gran and ask them to reissue the driving licence with the correct address! I will also be speaking to the Royal Mail to find out more!
Steam coming out of my ears!
Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Well H, I'm a postie and I have delivered to vague addresses, very, very vague addresses in fact and would have no problem with delivering your Grans license. The only thing I can think of would be her postie is a complete !!!!!!, or the DVLA are using excuses. Offer to pay for special delivery, and for less than afiver it would be there next dayI'm back after a break :money:0

I have every confience with the postman. We have the same one although we live a few miles away. We can always have a laugh and talk and know eachother, when I questioned him he said something about DVLA stuff being sorted by computer? He would deliver it if it had got to him, - I am not gullible! - I just know the postman.
Think DVLA made a big ***k up and are trying to pass the blame.Weight Loss - 102lb0
