Virgin broadband problems again

A few months back I had problems with my Virgin broadband and no access and was told it was my set up, but then suddenly found some time later (and after paying £50 to a local PC man to come out) that several other local users had problems as well.

Three weeks ago I lost my email and some web sites were not accesible and had several calls to Virgin support who again tried to convince me it was me, only to then put up a service notification to say that some London areas were having difficulties.

Yesterday again I lost my email facility (and still have no access to my emails), I can't even get my email online as that service is down..the status online is showing as 'good' so I have again phoned CS and after a few menu choices there is actually a recorded message saying that my specific area may be experiencing difficulties and that technicians are on to the problem.

Why do they have to make this so blooming difficult, if they have problems why not put it up on line so I know I haven't broken something this end..one could alsmost suspect that they prefer to have a constant 'good' service showing so as to give the impression that they can out perform their rivals.

Since I rely on my email to work this is very frustrating and it doesn't help that Virgin seem to like to pretend that everything is fine, when it isn't.

For once I agree with you Dave. If it wasn't such a hassle to change all my business stationery etc I would give up with Virgin.

It isn't so much that the service occasionally crumbles that annoys me it is the fact that they keep denying I am having any problems at all. At least today they have a recorded message stating that there are problems..but that's the first time they have admitted it so far.

we had problems over the end of last week where net wasnt loading at all. I thought it was the modem as its an old one from telewest, and vmedia said they would upgrade us as we were on a 'low' spec or sum rusbbish. he thought it may be the modem aswell.

anyway turns out it wasnt the modem being faulty there was just problems in our area. they said to contact them when it was up and runnign again, and knocked off £5 per day it wasnt working.

but why didnt they send an engineer out for you for free?? y did u have to pay for a local? if they cant refund the cost of the local engineer then ask them to knock money off your bill as its blate not working.... and their recorded message backs u up, so add that aswell. good luck :)

I had massive problems with broad band over a period of about a year! It would be fine one minute then not another. Phoned them and sometimes when they tested it it was fine. When finally we got them to admit there was a problem they finally sent a technician around - took about 5 - 6 months to get them to do this as they would not visit at first saying it was fine when they tested it.

Anyway they finally came round and discovered the last technician who replcaed the previously faulty modem and kep tthe wrong power cable with it so it had the wrong power lead!!!!!! How they expected us to know that I don't know as we had check ed the cable was plugged in which it was but apparantly it was the wrong voltage??? Don't quite understand how it still worked most of the time and affected speed but there you go.

We got about 3 months of free broadband - about £100 off and free calls on our phone for about the same period of time.

All is fine now but what a hassle to get sorted out. We are looking into changing to sky now but we don't have a bt landline so its going to cost us a fair bit.

Well I still have no email facilitiy at all, work are jumping up and down as I can't access anything they are trying to send me.

At least they have finally admitted there is a problem as on the Virgin status page it now has a big red blob for email status. I know I am not techie but its been nearly 2 days now so you think they could have fixed it by now.
