I was making pumpkin soup the other day (delicious) and noticed afterwards that my blender has developed cracks all around it. The liquid I put into it was hot but not boiling and it's obviously cracked from the inside out as when I run my nail over the cracks you can feel them on the inside but not outside.
I really don't feel safe using it like this and my daughter only bought it for me in April, should I take it back to Asda and complain? Will they exchange it for me without a receipt or a box? Surely a blender shouldn't crack when you put hot liquids into it?

I don't suppose you've got the instruction leaflet to confirm whether or not it mentions hot liquids? If not, perhaps you could have a look at a new one when you're in Asda next time. If you take your blender with you, you could ask for a refund as it's not fit for purpose. I took a breadmaker back which I had used, but only after 2-3 weeks as it was useless. I just said that the mixer bit didn't mix properly and the bread was disgusting (which it was, kids or dog wouldn't touch it!) and they refunded me. They're usually pretty good in our Asda about refunds etc. Good luck.Torgwen..........

Is it a glass goblet or acrylic?0

I'd expect to be able to put soup in a blender to puree ... isn't it normal useage? I've found that ASDA are pretty good about refunding on faulty products.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

It's an acrylic goblet, does that make a big difference then? Unfortunately I didn't bother keeping the instruction book as I've never had any problems putting hot liquids into a blender beforeOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Yes, take it back. I wouldn't expect my money back if you haven't got the receipt but I'd put money on them offering you an exchange or gift card (their version of a voucher). I choose to buy from Asda rather than Argos, Homebase etc. because they are SO good about returns.0

Hm... I just looked at my kenwood instructions and while it doesn't say that you can't put hot soup in the recipes each say put your veg and some stock in, whizz it, then transfer to a pan and bring to the boil. The inference is that they go in cold.
It also says in the safety bit to allow liquids to cool in order to avoid getting burned if splashed (but doesn't say anything about them being bad for the blender).

my kenwood food processor has these crackles on the inside, not cracks, just crackles, I think they it's through the usage rather than heat because I use a stick blender for hot soup0
