Credit Scoring: Equifax vs Experian

Hello people,
My first ever post here but before I continue I'd just like to say 'Hi' to everyone. Anyway, I went BR in 2005 and got discharged a year later. I am now trying to rebuild my credit rating by opening one of those sub-prime credit cards.. I had a look at my credit report by both Equifax and Experian and whereas Equifax shows a credit score of around 240 and recorded BR, Experian (CallCredit) doesn't show my bancruptcy but has got a credit score of over 900!! I am slightly lost here.. Don't all credit agencies get informed about CCJ's/Bancruptcy?

Have you obtained your reports/scores directly from the CRA's or used www.checkmyfile.co.uk?
BTW, Experian isn't CallCredit (if that's what you meant with the brackets?).0 -
Hi YorkshireBoy,
Sorry I meant CreditExpert from Experian.. Yes, I have obtained them directly online. Maybe I should have ordered them to be sent out to me? (hence the information might be slightly more accurate?)0 -
If your score is good with Experian and the bad data is not showing up then apply for a card that only search Experian like MBNA, Halifax or GE Money.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

It's the same information...just a bit 'glitzed up' in the online version. Strangely, I actually prefer the paper copies because I can touch them, turn the pages, make notes on them, and strike out obsolete information (on settled accounts etc).opiumbeauty wrote: »Maybe I should have ordered them to be sent out to me? PS: Could you change your font/size...it's hurting my eyes.
Proliant, is bankruptcy data held anywhere else? The fraud prevention agencies for example, or only with the CRA's (in a searchable by lender sense)?0 -
Hi Proliant
Many thanks for your reply. I was actually thinking of Vanquis card and possibly Barclaycard Initial.. Do you know who they search with (I mean BarclayCard)? Also, I read on their website the card is NOT aimed for those with CCJ/Bancruptcy.. Have you personally or does anyone you know with BR who applied for BarclayCard Initial and got accepted? :rolleyes:0 -
Barclaycard search Equifax, Vanquis Experian report to Equifax, Capital One Equifax/Experian, Aqua(HBOS) Experian and Halifax classic credit builder Experian.opiumbeauty wrote: »Hi Proliant

If the bankruptcy data is not present then the answer is no, when they do a national hunter search they compare application data only, they use data mining techniques with things called "OLAP Cubes" (Online Analytical Processing of 3d data schema modled as cubes) to spot inconsistencies in applications, if the BR data is there it will be on the file, might be an error of course but if that is the case get the applications in now in case it appears, as the OP is now discharged she can now legally use credit facilities again so even if it does reappear as long as has got the searches out the way and her card in her pocket then should be ok.YorkshireBoy wrote: »It's the same information...just a bit 'glitzed up' in the online version.
