  • I think if you try Phone 01704 227075 you may find a UK based chemist prepared to do a deal. He posted here some while ago but got ticked off for "touting for business"

In my view he was simply being helpful.

Post back if it's useful please and before anyone shouts at me I have absolutely no financial interest in promoting this or any other link I may offer apart from of course my homepage.

now, this string has stretched to about 20 comments and only one has had anything very valuable to say about getting a cheap prescription. perhaps future posters could stick to this topic? safe

pardon? i asked if it was not available some way on the nhs, as a way of getting it cheaper, and that is not helpful??

  • I get the feeling that it just grates a bit with some people that others are able to afford more than them i.e. jealously, which is not what this site it about.

    Jealousy?!
    What planet are you on?!

What on EARTH have I got to be jealous of? I don't see how my post has got anything to do with that.

...and excuse me, but I have experienced having 50p and wondering if I buy a loaf of bread or putting it in my electric meter and not knowing what to do with all of my money.
Money doesn't bring happiness, it just turns people into tight, pompous backsides.
    ..and they all stick together!

It's people like you that grate on me by assuming I'm skint and just bitching at rich people!

I expressed my feelings and experiences about acne drugs and simply pointed out that you have to expect to pay for private treatment and medication!

what is this ridiculous class inferiority hang up everyone has? i've just expressed myself in the most accurate manner english grammar allows and all you people can do is to flaunt your ignorance. could everyone restrict their comments to answering the question at hand, rather than highlighting their feelings of social inadequacy when anyone writes anything in a grammatically correct form.

    thisbee_81,

This isn't the best way to get help on MSE.

At the moment we are trying to stamp out nastiness on these boards and being so blatantly rude is not only offensive but it is uncalled for.

I believe that the questions regarding the NHS prescriptions were made in all innocence, after all, these people were trying to help you.

It would help your cause to read through some of the other threads on MSE and get a feel for the way we speak to each other. Other forums may be slightly more anonymous but MSE is a rapildy growing community of people who want to help each other, it is not every man for himself.

    :)
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • Please can the personal comments be toned down in this thread. Please read this post regarding inappropriate behaviour. I believe the same is starting to happen here. This applies to regulars as well as new members.

    Regards

I apologise if I have misunderstood anyones posting.
However I am not clear on the following quote.
You want to find the cheapest way so can you really afford private treatment if you're looking for the cheapest supplier?

I always look for the best value (not necessarily cheapest) supplier with virtually everything as do most moneysavers.
It has no connection whatsoever with being able to afford the service or item or otherwise.

It simply makes sense to find the cheapest whether it be a loaf of bread or diamond tiara.

Looking for the cheapest item infers nothing about the persons ability to afford the item or otherwise.
simply pointed out that you have to expect to pay for private treatment and medication

Of course. I don't think anyone is expecting not to pay.
Simply looking for the cheapest route possible.
  • ok - it looks like some people got a little riled about some stuff back there.

i didn't realise this was a 'community' of non-nasties. what i thought it was was a place to share their knowledge in a bid to help one another.

the question i asked regarded cheap prescriptions. under all the froth, only one person has addressed this issue. rather than wasting time asking about nhs prescriptions (bearing in mind, anyone of at least average intelligence would have considered this before posting a qu about private scrips).

now rather than succumbing to ressentiment, perhaps we all could be magnanimous and stick to the matter at hand, rather than try to settle scores (please don't respond to this sentiment, only the question at hand for god sake)
    stay lucky!
    Steve.

This thread may have drifted from the OP's question but it is headed private prescriptions and I for one have found some of the responses very interesting.

I was thinking of switching my hospital treatment to private so I could get my scan and treatment faster as, having spent a year having various treatments I am struggling to accept it could be another six months before the latest issue is resolved. However, if it is the case that I would then have to have the treatment on private prescription that will make the costs well out of my reach.

I can just about afford to pay for the tests, which would mean seeing the NHS consultant much more quickly but I can't stretch to paying for the treatment as well.

I will have to look more closely at the issue of getting my GP to write a script to replace a private one before I go any further. If anyone has any more info on this I would be grateful
  • Thisbee, my experience is that pharamcy4u is the cheapest for most private prescriptions. You could trawl the local chemists, maybe one would do a deal for a large number of tablets. I wouldn't go abroad or over the internet because of possible dodgy dealers/non doctors and poor manufacturing techniques leading to irregular dosages of tablets.
