Who is the best for kit insurance?

Options
I have been with PAX kit insurance since I joined and I am due to renew my policy in the next few months. I've not had any problems with the company, but then again I have not made any claims. How does PAX rate against the other companies out there for service? I would much rather pay a bit extra for the policy if I know that I will not have any issues come the day it goes missing/ops faff (I've got a few more years for the movers to catch me out!:p).

Grateful if I could hear the good stories and overall unit impressions, as well as the inevitable slating some will get.

i used forces finance (previously NAAFI) they give pretty much no hassle on kit claims......but are more expensive than most others

i have no idea about PAX though
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

I have used both JBI and Trinity both Forces specialist insurers over the last few years, nothing much to choose between them. They are listed on www.forcesdiscount.com
Hope you find a good deal

abacus are great for kit insurance - cheap, easy to deal with and great cover. OH has used them throughout this military career, has had to make a couple of claims but they were brilliant. cant rate them high enough

I had a Right Dress Policy, which has been renewed year after year with Towergate Wilsons - never had to claim but they are a very helpful crowd and that's important to me.

I also got a motor quote from them and have been with them now for 3 years; had a minor claim last year and they were fantastic. They even got my premium lower than the previous year last time - bargain!!!!!!:rotfl:

We are with Trinity. Our cellar flooded in Aug 07 and by the time Trinity had dragged their heels, on what I would describe as a straightforward case, we were paid-out in Mar 08.

The cellar flooded again last week and soaked the rather new tumble drier which then tripped the whole house whenever we tried to use it. Having 3 kids (incl a 12 week old baby) and all my kit to get washed, not to mention the weather here which isn't 'washing line' weather, a new drier was needed ASAP.

Rather than wait 8 months, we went out and spent the £200 to get a new one. Not exactly 'moneysaving' but a damn sight quicker and more practical.

Struggling to recommend Trinity at this time.

Unlikely as JAG are a brokers for AXA whilst PAX is a brand name of Aon whose kit and home contents plan is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance.

Generally PAX is used to describe the Personal Accident Plan available through the MOD - again Aon are the broker but this is underwritten by AIG and payroll deduct rather than DD, so, again, JAG would not be able to include this is their plan either.

Saying that, these plans are all very similar. Any insurance plan is a balance between cover (what is promised to be paid), exclusions (what they wont cover), and premium (the price). Some companies may offer limited offers or packaged deals but they will all need to ensure income covers claims, general operating expenses and tax.

As a starter, all SIIAP members should be providing policies designed with members of the armed forces in mind - http://www.siiap.org/

Please don't say unlikely then say generally

I am with Army plan and it does include personal Accident insurance,

Whilst it may not be PAX i believe most people on here understood what i meant
