What a lovely idea! I'd be tempted to go with fruit as people might feel a bit stuffed to eat anything too desserty, I don't know though, as I think I'd make room for a cupcake if I was there!
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!
  • So , what did you do in the end and how did it all go?

Hi; it was all really lovely; I did fruit kebabs in the end which were very easy (little ones helped me do them) and, as it was a nice warm sunny day, they fitted beautifully.

There were loads of cakes / biscuits / etc., that other people had made, so I was really chuffed with mine. Did a few without strawberries in case of allergies etc., and threaded strawberries, pineapples, white and black grapes alternately on a stick; they looked great!

Well it's just a thought, and it might not be really convenient if you are driving there, but the tradition in France is the "piece montee" (you might be able to google it to see what it looks like). As a simplified version of it you could do some profiteroles, or some creamy "choux" sorry don't know the word -- puffy pastry in a ball, and you fill the centre with custard.

Yes, it would have to be a very simplified version, I think I once saw Rosemary Schraeger trying to teach 'ladettes to ladies' how to make a piece montee ...
