moved and my freeview box no signal neighbours is fine

I have recently moved to new home I am the person in our house who deals with set up of freeview box, I cannot get any signal on my freeview. I have a 28" Sony television which in my old property picked up a signal with an indoor aerial. I have spoke to one of my neighbours and they have freeview so its not my local area that is the problem. The thing I would say is that i have not got the lead that connects into the wall for the outdoor aerial tried to look on Ebay but not sure what you call them so this could be a reason why I am not getting a signal. I have treid to get the freeview working in the bedrooms as well but no signal, I dont want to have to watch the kids channels on my front room telly so this is another problem I have one of the more powerful indoor aerials the ones that cost roughly £15 but this makes no difference what are the boosters like is that an option to get the freeview in the bedrooms, please someone help we have been watching a fuzzy screen for weeks now this is all driving me mad

  • Sorry if this sounds patronising but you are re-scanning the box every time you move it arent you?
Like the poster above says you were lucky to get it off an indoor aerial, even the best amplified ones dont give me much joy- it has to be connected to a roof aerial

yes I am re setting the box, I know what I am doing with that department the problem is getting any kind of signal I am sure when i get the outdoor aerial for the front room telly then there should be a big difference in signal. I really would like to know how I am going to solve the problem with the bedrooms I am sure many have been in the same boat surely there must be something that will enable this I cant stand CBeebies it will drive me mad if i have to watch it on my front room telly.

yes postcode checked but i stated that my neighbours next door are getting freeview. Thankyou loaner for your help what kind of aerial would go in the loft are they expensive? or would the amplifier option be better this is exactly the kind of help and advice I wanted.

An amplifier wont help You need a decent aerial on your roof. If it MUST be in the loft (due to the law in your area) then you may need to point it in a weird direction (ie ~ not directly towards the transmitter) as the signal can tend to bounce all over the place. Test with normal analogue tv first then when it looks its best set the aerial in that position then use the digi box. You can have multiple cables coming from the aerial OR you can get 'splitters' which split the signals to drive various tvs (but not as good quality as direct to aerial)
