Hi all
I've just upgraded the Catalyst Control Centre to V6.11 for my Radeon 9250 graphics card.
All seems to be going OK apart from one small oddity.
When I boot up my computer, the desktop will appear with all the icons as normal for about 30 seconds. Then the screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then comes back. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on performance, apart from being an anomaly.
This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but I would appreciate any tips on how to get round it.

Hi, ATI/AMD normally recommend removing existing software and drivers before installing new ones. Did you do that?

I let Windows remove all the previous software (Add/Remove programs) before installing the new stuff.
I even gave CCleaner a go before installing the new software just to make sure.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Just sounds like the new driver rendering the video for optimum performance, if it only does this once then don't worry about it.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

It only does it once a session (i.e. approximately 30 seconds after the desktop appears), but it does it every time I switch the computer on.
Anyone any ideas?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

You dont even need the control centre, if you dig around the download options on the ATi site you can choose to download just the driver which is all you need.
I also experience this screen blanking problem, however that is due to me running ATiTrayTools and overclocking my card and underclocking the fan speed to keep the noise down0 -
It happens to my laptop as well, with an Nvidia card. But not on my PC with an ati card.
Its best to put it down as 'one of those things', I guess.0 -
Solved it!!!!!I needed to uncheck one of the options under Monitors in "Advanced view".
Now starts as normal.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
