Could I have damaged my baby?

Hi all

I'm 13 weeks pregnanat and last week while on holdiay we went to a theme park. I went on some mild rides with my four year old as he couldnt ride alone - no massive rollercoasters or anything. But one of the rides was much bumpier and jerkier then it looked and now I cant stop worrying that I may have done some damage.

We had our 12 week scan today and it showed the baby as fine - but I cant help worrying that something like brain damage (god forbid) wouldn't show up.

Am i being a silly pregnant woman worrying about everything? Can anyone put my mind at rest?

Thanks

hi firstly congrats on being pregnant, and secondly the baby is well protected in the amniotic fluid which provids him or her the protection against the bumps
stop worrying and enjoy the pregnancy

Oh hunny, I bet its been a right worry for you hasn't it.

You're baby currently has the best airbag on the market available to it and that airbag is filled with water. It might have been a bit swishy in there for it but I very doubt anything will have come of it.

Thinking about it, my friend had a mad half hour on a bouncy castle one evening on her own at a childs party and she was fine.

i dont know if they have midwives available, but i know nhs direct have trained nurses on hand to deal with enquiries and offer medical advice where appropriate. perhaps a call to them (0845 46 47) will put your mind at ease?

Probably wasn't the best thing to do but we all make mistakes.
He is absoloutly weenie right now and well cushioned in lots of water and a little fat so i'm sure he is fine. You would have seen on the scan as it probably would have happened then if anything was going to.

He/she is fine and will be fine , and are far too small to be brain damaged right now so don't fret. Keep well and enjoy the pregnancy. Congrats by the way.
  • Some women don't realise they are pregnant until they give birth and lead very busy lifestyles which include drinking.

Baby is well padded, I fell down the stairs at 24 weeks pregnant on my bum, thankfully dd gave me a reassurring kick!

I really wouldnt worry too much and talk to your Midwife or call NHS direct as suggested to help put your mind at ease.

Your scan says fine - then it should be all fine.

In my first pregnancy I went to alton towers with OH and went on lots of rides and found out a week later I was 10 weeks pregnant.!:eek: DS1 is not 13 and great.

With DS2 I went to Benidorm  and got continuously ratted for a party fornight before I found out I was pregnant with him. Hes a big strong 11 yr old.

I was devestated and worried myself sick but it was all OK. I felt much better after talking to my midwife.

    Oh and congratulations :T

thanks for all the kind responses - I think I've totally messed up here as I think I'll be worrying about it until the baby is born ok :( It was a stupid thing to do - I just didnt want my little one to miss out and it was a kids ride and quite deceptive. I'll ask the midwife at my next appointment about it but I think it'll be like the wine drunk before realising pregnant or whatever else mums to be panic about- cant help worrying about it.

Hi Roxie- I went to Florida where I went on LOADS of rides including roller-coasters. The day before we flew home, I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I was worried just same as you, but he was fine. He is extremely loud and boisterous though, and blames it on me going on the tower of terror.:rotfl:
