Hi everyone, I don't venture up here much, so hello
Okay, I have searched and read through loads of these threads and still not sure what I want.
I had a Sony Ericson K800i phone and the photos I took on it were fantastic, I think it was 3.2 mp ... I've now got a Samsung 'something or other' 600 with a 5mp camera and the photos are bobbins!!
Anyway, I now realise that megapixels doesn't mean much after lots of reading and its the 'lens'. How do I work out which cameras have a good lens?
I'm going to Mexico next week and want to buy a Digital Camera for holiday snaps. I want a camera that will give crystal clear pics whether taken in the bright sun or nightime pics.
Also, as we are swimming with dolphins and it is a one in a lifetime experience, I want a camera that won't let me down with the sharpness of the pics.
So, what do you clever lot recommend? As the holiday is close, I don't want to break into much of my budget, so something between £100 - £150 is what I'm looking at. I want a small camera I can put in my pocket, yet strong enough to be knocked about as I'm a clumsy cow, lol
Can you help me please? Thanks

I would recommend in this situation a canon.

You can see a full review here:-

there really isn't a point and shoot camera that will give you sharp pictures in low light but there are good point and shoot cameras.
Canon usually is top of the line in regards to quality but I also like the newer Panasonic Lumix line and is probably a better bargain.0 -
Nikon lenses are great.
I get fab pics from my Nikon coolpix 4100.0 -
You won't go wrong with this Canon Ixus 80.0

I quite fancy the Panasonic Lumix FS3 8MP Camera now ... only problem is getting my hubby to agree to a pink one:rotfl:
Thanks for all your help guys. I have been looking into this all day and in the end it all blurs into one mass megapixel-lens-optical-digital-AA-battery mess0 -
Problem No 2, lol.
I need a memory card and looked at play.com and they have some at great prices.
Is it better to purchase a SDHC card or SD card?
Also (I know I'm a pain, sorry), but do I 'need' a card reader or can I just use the USB cable that comes with the camera to transfer my pics over to my computer?
Once I get the answers, I'll leave you all in peace, I promise0 -
SDHC cards are higher capacity cards.
The camera will come with a USB lead to connect to the PC. There will be no need for a card reader.Dave. :wave:0 -
Thankyou
All done now, finally .. after 12 hours of reading and researching.
Anyway, I've gone for
Panasonic Lumix FX10 6MP Slim Digital Camera
4 x Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA Batteries (even though camera comes with batteries and charger, thought I'd best get spares, just in case)
Play.com 2GB SD card twin pack
and all for grand total of £119.97 :T :T :T
Thanks for all your help :beer:0
