My two issues to not spend any or little money are:
    1. how to get files onto my empty sd card and then get myself another

Put the empty SD card into the camera, connect to the PC using the cable, copy the files back to the camera as you would copy any other files using explorer.

or 2. how to save the files ( currently on pendrive) on the frame's internal storage

I doubt if your Photo Frame has any internal memory.

    .................

This has got to be your best bet - explore the camera until you can work out where the SD cards contents are (maybe take a photo on the camera, saved to the memory card, then browse til you see this photo).

Once you've found where photos are stored on the SD card, copy all the ones you want here. Job done.

Thanks espresso. I tried the straightforward copying a while back and couldn't.

The pictures must be copied back into the same directory on the SD card, that pictures taken by the camera are stored. As suggested above take a picture and find this using explorer.

Ok, I have to admit defeat at the simplest thing.
    Took a photo.
Went to Windows explorer and clicked on the name of my camera on LHS. Folder on RHS contains my recently taken photo and a folder.
Went back to my folder containing all the photos I want, highlighted and clicked copy.
Went back to explorer to where I could see the photo and right clicked ready to paste......wouldn't allow it. Paste greyed out.

Are you trying to copy a folder full of pictures? Try copying one picture.

It may be that your camera will only allow you to access the card via USB read-only - I've just tried the same thing with my Fuji camera and it works ok on mine. If you right-click on an (unwanted) photo on your camera, can you delete it or is delete greyed out?

Sounds like you need a card reader - that should solve the problem.

You can get a 2GB SD card for under a fiver on ebay.

if I rightclick on the image I took on the camera, the option to delete is black, not greyed out.

Weird - if it were read-only you would not expect to be able to delete anything on it...

    Cardreaders - cheap! E.g.

But check it's compatible with your card - that one doesn't seem to do XD cards for example. You'll probably get best value by getting the card and reader from the same place.

So it's not me being thick then?

Thanks for that link. Hope I can get something delivered quick!
If camera is taken out of the equation ( not needed it seems), What's better SD or MMc or MS to keep in the frame?

I think that you will find that SD cards are more common and therefore cheaper. I have bought an SD/MMC card reader from the £shop and also from ASDA for £1.

Last thing. Espresso, looking at fwor's link, it's the writer part that's important I suppose for what I need to do. Was what you mentioned just a reader for that kind of price?

No they read & write, I use them as cheap USB flash drives e.g. to write edited pictures on to get them printed in ASDA etc.
