Many thanks, however DR is practically Paris compared to the month I spent in India-omg- words fail me. Off to Florida in October and am proud to say wont be taking anything with me- my body is immune !!!Ok, jscalow, so obviously the fear of illness has not put you off from returning to the Dominican Republic. Yes, I always take a good supply of all sorts of medication. I do regardless of my destination as illness of any sort an creep up on you.
You sound like a good sort to me who will help out fellow travellers in their hour of need:T
IMHO the DR is an excellent long haul destination which does not cost a fortune. Do your research, read reviews and pay for the best hotel you can afford. That is the mantra I have always used and either been correct in my choice or very lucky!0 -
jscalow. my sympathies on your trip to India! My husband has a business trip in the offing to India. It will be his first time there and he is fairly anxious about food issues. A colleague of his went there for a business visit and came home on a stretcher. I am sure that is an extreme example - well, at least I hope so!0

Pattycake, your husband will have a fantastic time- a real eye opener, it will be nothing like he has ever experienced b4. Just because he may like an Indian take away on a Saturday night does not mean he will enjoy the food, it is totally different and nothing like a British curry . This sounds awful- but be prepared to be ill with Delhi belly, consider it part of the experince. Most street corners have a pharmacy/shack and the medicine on sale there are for Indian symptons- UK immodium wont scratch the surface. However I would recomend some rehydrate sachets. When eating out do and go where the locals eat, don'r be affraid of food cooked on the street, pakoras etc, if its popular its good. :j0
