Low water pressure from hot tap

Hi
I have recently installed a new tap assembly with shower head onto my bath but the hot water stops flowing once the shower head if lifted no more than about 3 foot from bath!.
I have a hot water cylinder/immersion tank in the bathroom that supplies hot water to the taps fine but not the shower head.
I was looking at pumps like those £100odd things from B&Q but was wondering if anyone knew of any easier/quiker/cheaper fixes?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you in a flat? Even if you're not you may have a 'fortic' or combination cylinder installed which will not give sufficient 'head' for a shower, nor will the small cold water storage section of it be sufficient to sustain a pump, which would need to be 'negative' duty anyway, meaning it would need either a pressure or air switch to work properly.
That's what it sounds like, if your cylinder has a flat lid on top of it and an immersion in the side then it is a fortic (i.e. it is not fed by a seperate cold water tank in the loft).
In this situation there isn't any quick fix, if you don't have accessible roof space to put a cold water storage tank whilst replacing the fortic with a normal cylinder then a change of system would be necessary, such as an unvented cylinder or combi boiler.0 -
Hi, yes it is a flat and unfortunately I do not have any access to a loft, looks like i'm not going to be able use the shower head but on the plus side Ive finally found out what type of cylinder I have...fortic....thanks for your help.0

Your other option is an electric heater shower.0
