A lot of valuable advice on there

When it comes to the price ALWAYS ask - "What's the least you'll accept for this car?" Then tell them you didn't want to pay that much. Offer them a lower price & watch them meet you in the middle. Works EVERY time :D

Or better still, if you have the knowledge and patience go to a car auction and buy your next car there. Thats where most dealers source their stock from anyway.

General rules of thumb though :

    - try and find an auction which is mostly attended by TRADERS, not the PUBLIC. Traders know the value of the car so will back down from bidding quite quickly as they are working on a profit margin.

    - Auctions which start in the evenings are usually full of the general public meaning the cars tend to go for higher prices.

    - if you dont know anything about cars take someone who knows with you.

    - there usually is no 'comeback' if you find something wrong with the car. This is a big disadvantage in buying from auctions. However, a lot of newer cars tend to be ex-fleet and come with full history so you know what your getting.

    and thats it
