Try the following to resolve the problem: 1.Turn off your Xbox 360 console, disconnect and reconnect all cables, and then turn your Xbox 360 console back on. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 2.2.Turn off the console, and then disconnect any connected accessories, such as controllers, Xbox 360 memory units, and the Xbox 360 hard disk. With these accessories removed, restart the console to see whether the problem persists and to pinpoint whether it is the console or an accessory. If this step doesn't resolve the problem, try step 3.3.If you continue to experience the problem, contact Xbox Customer Service. If the Xbox Customer Service agent cannot help you resolve the problem, you may have to return your Xbox 360 console to Microsoft for repair. For more information about how to contact Xbox Customer Support or to request repair of your Xbox 360 console, please visit the Xbox Support (http://www.xbox.com/support/) Web site.

  • Think you've mis-understood me. As ive already put - it WASNT thie ring of death and the xbox IS working but we arent sure what it was. Only one section (theres 4 sections) was red, the others were black. I did google it before i posted on here and couldnt find anything about one bar of red (red ring of death is 4 bars, not one) so didnt know if it was the start of something bigger or just a glitch

If you do have to phone MS, tell them you get the 3 red lights, then the repair will be free, regardless of what turns out to be wrong with it ;)

I've had 2 reds and 3 reds but it was the power supply over heating so now it sits on its own, perched on a little tin keeping cool. (cute eh?).
Most 360 problems are due to overheating... don't have it on a carpet and don't keep it upright... and I'm sure PeteHerts will have a word to say about that.
