This has not happened to me, but a colleage of mine has received a number of phone calls from someone claiming to be from Wanadoo.
The callers are offering him the chance to upgrade to broardband. My friend is a very cautious man so he has been leading the callers on attempt to get as much info out of them as possible. He asked them what speed was available, and they said full speed.(where we live only 10 times speed is available at the moment) so he asked if he could confirm that speed was available by contacting BT. The person on the phone then gave him a number saying it was a BT number, my friend spotted straight away it was a mobile number which made him suspicious. When he called he noticed there was the same background noise on this number as there was on the other calls. The person he called confirmed that there had recently been an upgrade on our local network and that full speed broardband was now available. Then my friend called BT and asked the same question, they told him that only 10 times speed was available. I would have left it at that but he had arranged for them to call him back and when they did he led then on by claiming to be interested. They then tryed to get him to give his wanadoo password and bank details. At this point he ended the call. He has reported this to wanadoo and to BT.
