Post Office Bank Account

You might be better off calling them as then they do checks via PC. They check the voters register and i guess other registers to check you are who you say you are and they only ask for more ID if they cant get enough from that. I have not heard of that very often so it must be rare. They asked me who i used to bank with and my account details so maybe they verify it from that too.
Also dont forget that things like gas and electric bill also should do as ID for them if you would prefer the branch but over the phone is easy so i would do that first.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

I would open the Coop account now then it will be up and running. Just tell the OR you opened that account in preparation for BR you will be fine. I opened mine in November and went BR in April.

Ps I forgot to say - I have never found it inconvenient not having a branch near me. Paying in cash at the post office is instant and if you have cheques to pay in you can either pay them at the post office or post them in pre-addressed envelopes that Coop give you.

Thanks thats helpful to know, I didn't give any thought to what I would do if I needed to put money into the account.
I just gave co-op customer services a ring and I was told it was best to open a account after I have gone bankrupt. I asked how long it would take to get set up and was told 5-7 days to get everything done (fingers crossed), the only thing that makes me a bit weary is that my nearest branch is 30 miles away. I was told that they do a credit search as well - but I think that is for ID purposes.
