Student bank accounts

How can I obtain a student bank account whilst having debts which are under the credit councelling service control. Is there a way? I start uni this year and have been turned down for one account. Is there any point in trying any others?

I wouldn't bother-most student accounts come with an overdraft entitlement and you may fail to score for this based on the information held about you by the credit reference agencies-stick with your normal banking for 6-12 months before you apply for another current/student account.Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
