would it be possible to fit a real can of guiness into the glass inside the fabric, perhapse a better surprise than just the socks???

Just tried it with a can of OH's bitter ale and the pint glasses are too narrow at the bottom. Not sure if you can get bigger glasses or a large straight tumbler might do it.

Sorry to oppen up an old thread but I'm doing this for my brother and B'sIL, but I'll be giving socks, a bar of black soap and a white flannel. Will get some pics up when I have done them.

You could always use a piece of coalface from lush
