B&Q Kitchen (Ivory Classic)

Hi everyone! B&Q came round the other day and gave me a quote for an Ivory Classic, complete supply and fit. I made this with the IKEA planner so it's not spot on. Top wall is 3.3m, left wall is 2.8m.




The bottom left is a tiny sink cabinet, dishwasher and washing machine. The cabinet to the right is the oven.
Imagine in the top right corner there is a corner floor and wall cabinet!

Marble effect worktops (total £282)
400mm carcus is £36
Doors are £15-20
8 brushed nickle handles for £72
11 cabinets i think including oven housing

£4140 for supply
£1472 fitting
So thats £5,612 including appliances (Washing machine, double oven, hood, hob, fridge freezer. Though I can save £150 on appliances and get better makes from sainsburys), laminate flooring, tiling, electrics, full complete fitting, removal current kitchen etc.

Anyone know the quality of B&Q cabinets? Thickness and compression?

Mmm.

I think you could probably do better than that if you try. The idea is to get these people to take money off rather than just compare the prices they tell you.

It frustrates me. All of the names that generally get anded around are much of a muchness. I suppose that shopping around does help you get a better deal but all people price match so just play them all off against each other. Tell them you already have a cheaper quote - no one has ever asked us to provide the paperwork

B&Q appliances are far too expensive. I just bought a just a hob that is £329 in B&Q for £179 elsewhere. So use the price match guarantee at least and one of the 15% offers that they always run for the kitchen.

The last quote we had from B&Q started at £9600 and ended up at £5300. MFI started more expensive but came in a bit cheaper than B&Q and I had a load of Tesco vouchers to cut the cost even more.

hey. I'm not too worried about appliances, I can easily shop around for those. It's all the other things and the cost of fitting that I wondered was a good quote. I've also had wickes out with a similar design and it's about £800 more. I'm also a bit worried about B&Q as I've heard they can't seem to deliver a complete kitchen without messing something up. I need a new kitchen badly and B&Q have told me it will be about 10 weeks till they start!

From what you've posted it doesn't sound like you've done any hard negotiating with either Wickes or B&Q. Like Doozergirl say, don't just compare prices
