Pine Doors

Hi, I've just bought a couple of new pine internal doors that I intend to use in my house. I'd like to antique-pine stain the doors and then apply a wax finish - which is how the existing doors seem to be finished. Internet searches give conflicting answers about doing this though - some say I'll get a poor result if I wax directly over stain! Does anyone know how to best apply wax to a stained pine door please? Do I need a coat of clear varnish over the stain perhaps? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I used some Ronseal wax over a door but it wasnt stained. I dont know if it can go over stain but the wax does contain stain on some of them

On my doors you can get various colours very easy to use about 30 minutes for both sides of doors no need to take handles or hinges off either0 -
I've never heard of staining then waxing??? I just waxed mine and they are fine. You may walk and you may run

Our internal doors are pine, wood not veneer. We used a wax type stain called Morrells Morwax Natural polish. You wipe it on with a dry sponge, wait 5 mins and buff off with 0000 wire wool. They look like old antique doors now. It's not cheap stuff, but we did trial and error some cheaper. This was by far the best we could find. Ebay it. We did not do anything to the doors prior to the morwax and nothing after.0

poppyolivia - Sorry I didn't make it as clear as I could have done - these doors are called "Knotty Pine Victorian" and they are from Focus DIY. They have a label attached to them that states "suitable for paint or stain". Label with doors also says that they are "not suitable for polishing, varnishing, waxing or treatment with teak oil". Tried calling Focus help but no help at all received!
I want to end up with a smooth finish with no rough surfaces! I guessed that putting stain and then wax might be OK but unsure of this - hence my post.0 -
pottassium permanganate (can purchase from a chemist but watch out it dyes your skin purple) is very good for staining doors antique pine.0

Thanks to all for suggestions. I'm going with the Morwax idea.0
