My Zen Micro charges via a USB lead. This is the same lead I use when transferring music from my PC. I am aware of the 'memory effect' that batteries have and am concerned that if I transfer music whilst the battery is not fully discharged then I could inadvertently be shortening the life of my battery or impairing its perfomance.
Any thoughts? Is there any way of plugging in the USB without activating the charging function?
Thanks
SB

With my iRiver (die iPod die !!!) if you use the mains charger to power/ charge your mp3 player then plug in the usb cable the mp3 player is charged via the mains and files are transfered via the usb.
hope this helps and makes sense.Wales will be disregarded until given a place in "its a small world"0 -
Thanks MACacd,
My player only came with a USB lead. The charger is sold as an add on accessory.

The Zen Micro comes with a Li-Ion Polymer battery if I'm not mistaken (like in your mobile), in which case it won't suffer from any "memory effects". It's generally NiCad batteries that suffer from this problem.
It will still have a set number of charge cycles, for example 1,000 in its lifetime. So lots of small burst charges aren't always advisable, but I think you can replace the battery on the Zen Micro anyway. I wouldn't worry about it too much."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Incidently, mains charger for the Creative Zen are really expensive. However, I purchased mine off eBay and it has been sooo much more convienent than having to charge it through the pooter all the time:

You can also buy battery extenders too:
