Beware Mint CC Cheques !

I have just paid off my ' low-rate, life-of-balance' credit card with Mint CC.
This was paid earlier than expected, and I was sent some credit card cheques through the post today. My first thought was that these would be at the same special offer rate, and I was tempted to use them. However, as a precaution, I rang Mint, only to find that the rate for these cheques would be 17% !
They went straight in the bin ! Surely they should state the interest rate on the accompanyig letter ?
Be careful, anyone who is sent these cheques.

A lot of companies try this trick on - I've always found them to be a high interest rate.
You should always make sure you destroy the cheques when you throw them out though - shred or burn them. They're so easy to use by scammers.0 -
I'd check and double-check before doing this:peawack wrote:... I rang Mint, only to find that the rate for these cheques would be 17% !

There are a lot of absolutely incompetent people on the other end of the phone line - especially in banks. Posts #19-#25 in the 'Exchange Rate for Euro's ' thread are my favourite example of this.Cheques 0% fixed until 1st September 20060
