Sounds like you accidently switched your keyboard into American Mode. Go into the control panel, Regional and Language settings, then have a poke around in there. Look for places it says English (US) and change them to English (UK).
(Also you get the | by shift+\ )0 -
control panel
regional and language (globe icon)
change top address bar to English UK
bottom to English
click 3 rd tab (advanced)
change address bar to English
tick bottom box (apply all setting to the currant user account and to the default user profile)
hope this helps0 -
Check, too, that the dictionary and spelling checker haven't reverted to American as well. You may need to reset them to proper English.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Still no luck0

Really? Does it say English (UK) everywhere then?
Is it the same in IE/Firefox/Word/Notepad? Then we can narrow it down to if its a setting in one particular program or if its a system wide problem.0 -
restart the PC
you have changed it to a US layout
took me ages to figure it out, when pressing m it became a comma, which because an ', etcetc
are your Q's and A's reversed?0 -
£ £££££££££ £££££
Yippppppppeeeeeeeeeee
I cant even begin to say how fustrating it is posting on here without a £ sign, its like having no @ or ?
Not important until you really need it.
Many thanks (i needed to restart)0 -
odd.. american keyboards @ sign is on the 2 key, not the 3, which is where a £ is.... glad you got it sorted, i do it in the office as a practical joke on a regular basis!....0

Markymoo,
Lauren may have, inadvertently, been in a language other than American.
PS. The really mean thing to do is to switch it to an Arabic or Oriental language. Then the user, even if aware of what's happened, can't read the menus necessary to switch it back again...:D

Russian might be even worse than Arabic, except I can always get Mrs MbW to help me as she is Russian.0
