How do you deal with someone who has stress ....?

i am on the receiving end of other half who is so worked up that he seems to be falling constantly ill - if not one thing then another. I have been dependent on the work as i have also worked in the business (and feel now that i have nothing to show for it) but every time this happens it affects me.
I did think of taking over the business and taking on someone but he is adamant he is against this. I'm not sure what to do anymore.
I am now trying to set up my own business but find difficult to deal with this at home. He has started counselling but not sure this is either going fast enough or needs more help ..? though am told counselling is a long process. he does always say he finds it too short. any help appreciated. thanks

You can't rush these things.. He's doing the right thing by going to counselling, this is the hardest barrier to overcome (admitting you need it!)
You need to allow your partner to have various forms of 'control'.
Some of the biggest causes of stress is lack of control, whether it be in the workplace or relationship. The most prone time to fall ill is after a stressful period on your 'comedown'.
A lot of students for example fall ill after exams, the body prepares itself mentally for such an event and you become exhausted. Once a stressful event has passed, the body relaxes and the immune system is weak. These is obviously the high risk time for infections and ulcers etc.
The thing to do is try to eliminate causes of stress.
There are very basic factors; lighting, noises, space you can try improving.
Maybe try to go out more in the sunshine (or rain). Exercise is also a great benefit so maybe join a gym or go for a run together? Time off work might also help, a nice cheap weekend away or something
Good luck with it all
