Or you could try the IETabs add-in and configure Firefox to work as an IE page? I do that with the online banking, Quidco and 18185 sites on my setup.

Im not being funny but surely your compromising your security there??
I used to use the IE plugin myself but I would NEVER use it for banking or suchlike as its surely more vulnerable to load IE into firefox than it is to just use IE by itself??

Your call but its not a risk i'd take personally

Works fine for me - my bank insists on you using IE as their website does not truly support Firefox (like many British corporate website designers, they do love Microsoft so very, very, much - even with all the security flaws that MS have had over the years).

Oh im sure it WORKS fine. what im saying is your probably making it more vulnarable to security attacks than by using IE7 by itself

I don't see how thats possible. Its essentially the same as running a window of IE, just tabbed in firefox. No more or less secure than running IE standalone. Actually, it may be more secure if it uses firefoxs features, but I'm not sure how it works exactly.

Like I said ~ your call

I wouldnt trust it. Lets say a computer hacker knows you use it that way. He can scan to see when you call it up and possibly exploit the fact you call it from firefox.
Id say your putting yourself at unnecessary risk. the IE tab is just to load into firefox when the page wont work with it. The programmer sure as hell didnt look at security risks when he made it.

Surely to someone looking at the packets/a hacker, it would look just like someone using regular old internet explorer?
Anyway, it can't be a worse security risk than using IE in the first place :p

Fortunately, it turns out that all my banking stuff works in both IE7 and Firefox, so it doesn't matter which I use after all.

But, I know of one company who basically allowed their website team to write their website so it works properly in IE, but if you use Firefox, it's all screwed up and doesn't work properly.

Thanks for all your help everyone. Pigsback has suddenly started to work again for no apparent reason. I haven't changed anything. If it goes weird again I'll try out some of the things you suggested.

Nationwide - I know they support Safari, IE6, IE7 and Firefox 2 now (they might also support Opera), but I think I had a problem before that was cured by using the IE Tab add-in for Firefox 2, but it might be cured now as I've updated to Firefox 2.0.0.16.

Btw, Nationwide are still checking out Firefox 3 compatibility with their website and internet banking service, so any MSErs who are with Nationwide and looking to move to Firefox 3, perhaps hold back for a little bit until they've done that (or use the IE Tab add-in, assuming it still works with Firefox 3: I've not updated yet).
