I'm using Pinnacle to get my camcorder movies onto the pc. The capture template gives me 3 choices.
DV capture, Mpeg or Preview.
Which one should I be using.
Thanks

Probably DV Capture ?
They other two imply some form of immediate encoding.
Do you plan to keep them on the PC or move them to DVDs?0 -
Irnbru
I want to edit them and then put onto dvd0 -
You want them in the rawest format possible i.e. the least encoded.
DV Capture
Hopefully, your editor will handle it. You'll need a lot disk space too.
Finally, you'll encode it too MPEG2 for transfer to DVD.0 -
Thanks irnbru0

What type of camcorder is it. If its DV camera I export video in dv format but if its a 8mm camcorder the old type I would of thought that mpeg2 is the best format particularly as it would have to be encoded to mpeg2 for dvd.0

It's a dv camera. I was hoping to use nero for it, but I'm not sure what nero programme I should use0

Oh I see Renee, then its best to stick to dv capture as said.0
