I am so annoyed. One of the MS companies have said that they no need me to work for a client and have cancelled all my scheduled assignment for that client this month! I understand why they need to rotate people but it so unfair when I planned my diary around them. We’ve had to remove your signature. Noticed some have appeared on RE in my area this evening.....now theres a coincidence!!0 -
Gap did the same with me a little while back with the red branded corner shops, chicken shops and burger venues, all on the same day.
E-mailed them for an explanation and did not even receive a reply.0 -
Thanks to Scaredy and Cranezoe for your help re GFK job. Now printed off questionnaire and am ready to go.0

Now you have to do 5 McDonalds visits to get a visit to a petrol station that sounds like a US southern state. Gyp really are desperate aren't they.
And, as a side note, why do RE always ask you to call them and then say the office is closed, no matter what time of day it is???

RE...ARGH!! Read the !!!!ing assignment I submitted, having spent up to 2 hours writing it and stop calling me and emailing me to ask stupid questions!!0

I'm a bit worried, I wasn't able to do a fast food shop for gap that i'd booked due to a fmaily emergency, and because the website was down, I couldn't tell them until a few hours after the visit was due. Will I still be allowed to do the fast food jobs or is that me blacklisted?0

I agree whole heartedly with your first comment about the drunk. What I have a problem with is people who seem to think that just because some of us do this for pocket money or free meals out, that we don't take the work seriously. I take a pride in my work as a mystery shopper as much as I do in my full time job.
It just gets on my nerves sometimes when people (not you, I hasten to add sinderella!) think we just mess about with it for a laugh, simply because it's not our first source of income. The reasons some of us do this might differ quite widely, but it doesn't mean to say we aren't diligent in our visits and report writing in the same way as people who actually make a living out of it.
I think someone who'd falsify a claim is the sort of person, who would do it regardless of whether it was their living or a side job - they're just that sort of person. I'm sure we've all heard of people getting sacked for falsifying their expenses in our various other jobs, not just in mystery shopping.
It just comes across as a bit high and mighty to me that the people who do it for a living are somehow better than people who do it for pocket money.
OK, rant over!
Josie I totally agree - this discussion was had back on (I think) about the second thread, although it became a little heated, even for an internet forum!
Even somebody on their first MSing job will be just as good in parts at being objective, taking in detail and remembering things as one of us old farts (and I've not even been doing it that long!).
There is however a line that some people continue to cross, accidentally probably but client names are sometimes mentioned and fees sometimes, too. This can have a detrimental effect on fees etc although as I mentioned a few pages back, fees and reimbursements are more likely dependent on market and economical forces than competitors simply watching a web forum.
I also said a few pages back that the people that don't take MSing seriously usually drop out after a couple of jobs because when you don't care about it, you also probably don't care about the measly couple of quid you make from it, either.
People who are serious about it however, I would say are as 'good' at the job as any other serious shopper. All MSing takes is objectivity, good writing skills and a good memory and eye for detail. As long as you have those (which most people do I'd have thought), all is fine.0
