Anyone know anything about Skype Phones

We are hoping to do away with our bt line rental and broadband (currently working out at nearly £50 a month after calls etc) and switch to a dongle and a skype phone.
My questions are
How do Skype phones work- ie how do you pay for the calls?
How do I find out where to get the best dongle for coverage etc
Do the dongle and skype phone have to be compatable?
I want a phone where we don't have to have the computer switched on for it to work

By dongle I take it you mean using 3G mobile network?It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... If you have a Nokia N95 8gb you can use this for skype and SIP calls .
Use this site to find out what mast is near you and if it is 3G; 3G masts are UTMS.

Then you are armed before you shop for a mobile
A couple of points, 3G (three) and T-Mobile are still seperate companies, but are sharing their 3G network.
Vodafone and Orange have announced they will be doing this- not much has happened at the moment
I know that Vodafone exclude skype calls in their terms and conditions. They (and orange) actually remove menus from the phone to prevent you doing this.
If you have a S60 mobile you can install a program called FRING to facilitate this.baldly going on...0 -
