My pc has been running so slow for ages, I've bought extra memory which hasn't changed anything. If I was to clear everything using the restore CD I have, can I download Microsoft Office from the internet or would I have to buy it?
Hope this makes sense, I have tried everything else to make it quicker, but nothing seems to work.

It's not freeware. See alternatives and options here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/free-office-software
As for making your pc quicker, go through the malware removal guide sticky (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269) just to eliminate malware as a possibility. Other than that need more details of your PC etc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

also, Defragment your computer, and run a scan disk,, these can help clean up your computer causing it to run a little faster.0

I have done all of the above! Maybe the pc just needs upgrading!0

It depends on how you got MS Office in the first place, if it came with the PC then it may be on the restore disc as a trial version and a call to Microsoft would revalidate itIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

As I said depends on the PC. Do you know the specs etc and what operation system you're using?
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html, very good free program to give info about your pc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I'd have thought that was implied from "If I was to clear everything using the restore CD I have"."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I'd agree with superscraper, we need to know the configuration of your pc, your processor, ram, hdd etc. Perhaps your pc is just too old or certain components are. If you are not certain about your configuration, you can go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel. Once the control panel has opened up, double click on 'System' this should show you a window with some info on your system.
About MS Office, you should have a cd sleeve with the product key on it, if you have misplaced your office cd, you should be fine borrowing a copy from your friend and using your product key to activate your copy. That's what I did with my XP installation, I misplaced my disc but use the product key on my COA sticker to activate my copy. I assume its legal :rolleyes:0 -
As Superscaper said, you check out Open Office. It looks just like Microsoft Office (2003 and earlier) and functions the same as well. And its completely free.0
