train fares

hi guys, first time on here, although do dip toe in! pls be gentle.
i'm trying to get to london by train on 17th aug, back late next day. i've got a family railcard (2 adults 3 kids traveling)
been sat here for hours trying to get the fare cheaper than £102.05, iv tried the splitting stations thing and using differant train companies, we don't mind stopping before london and using the tube but really unsure of stations, (we live in hereford)
i would be so grateful for any help

It's £81.25 if you use the slower route via Worcester. Don't know which website you are using but usually you can specify the route under 'advanced options'. Note that the last train this way is quite early (1921hrs). That fare you can buy on the day though - as you can the £102 one.

There's no useful split ticketing via Worcester other than just possibly Oxford. You could try Newport and Didcot the other way - but make sure the train stops at Didcot. Many don't
  • many thanks for tip, will try slower route thro worcester, £20 great saving
