Selling a SORN car
I recently bought a new car and am currently selling my old car. However it has just had its tax and MOT expire. So a couple of things I would like advice on please:
1. I have declared it SORN however does that mean I would have to tax it in order that someone can test drive it?
2. The car is only worth about £500 so is it worth getting the MOT and tax done in order to make it sell (concerned about the cost of these relative to the cost of the vehicle?)
Thanks

It can't go on the road without tax and you can't tax it without a valid MOT
hope that helps0 -
Thanks...will I be able to recover the cost of MOT & Tax by incorporating these into the price? Will what a buyer is willing to pay be influenced by this or will they only consider the mileage/condition etc.

I would have thought you would be very lucky to get £500 for a car with no MOT. A buyer is likely to use the lack of MOT as a reason to make a silly (low) offer. If the car is going to pass the MOT easily & cheaply, then I would recommend getting it done as it is going to make it more attractive to a wider group of potential buyers. Having said that I have tried to px a car with little MOT left and been offered bottom price, I then said what if I got an MOT done, the answer...it wont make any difference mate !!0
