Hersonissos review any details please

Thinking about booking to go to Hersonissos in Crete , Does anyone have any reviews on the resort itself , Is it suitable for families , Can someone hopefully advise that its not like the resort on the news recently in Crete any info welcome

I stayed at this resort about three years ago with my mum and daughter. We stayed at the very edge of the resort and found that it was very quiet and there was no beach, so we ended up hiring a car to get to local beaches and go shopping. The hotel was lovely, but you can get lovely hotels anywhere.

Have a look at www.tripadvisor for lots of reviews of crete's resorts and hotels.
Been through Hersonissos many times on our way to stalis but i have to say we only like it for a day trip, its quite a spread out resort and is very busy along the main road. Think there are quite a few young people who go here as well as Malia so be careful about what hotel you use.

Stalis is right next door to malia and have to say its a great resort to stay in fab beach some real nice accomodation lots of restaurants.

Elounda is a nice upper class resort think it has some 5* hotels there.
