The OP doesn't have the Office disk to reinstall it with.

I hope they noted this when they sold it.

Yes the buyer knows this. Thanks.

D900 - I had time to sort this out but a buyer requested buy it now this morning. No big deal really, I was just asking for advice. I had googled, and thought I'd come here for advice from those in the know so I'm not sure what the last part of your post meant.

Did you say Microsoft Office? As you could stick Open Office on there, as that does everything MS Office does, and can be known simple as Office as well.

I have not read all the othersd so sorry if this is a repeat. The question was asked in The Times and the advice was to use:

    Heidi Eraser(www.heidi.ie/node/6)

It erases your hard disk to US Government standards they say.

"But, they say that anyone who is determined and who has the right equipment can probably just about retrieve anything " .

Personally, for wiping a hard drive, I'd use Dban. However, pretty much any program out there should be good enough for a general user.

I've got a PC I'm wiping. It's about 7 years old. This is probably a really stupid question but will the instructions in this thread work on my PC? And how do I set up an admin account?

Yes, I should think the any of the wiping programmes mentioned will work on your PC. Why not use the one I mentioned that was in The Times newspaper? What do you mean about setting up an admin account - sorry, but I have not read the earlier posts.
