in Credit cards
Hiya
I was wondering if someone can help me,I have posted on mse before but forgot my blooming password so have set up a new account but I hope I am posting this in the right place.Basically my partner has a credit card that we both used for things when we didnt have a lot of money etc but we are paying alot of interest at the minute so we pay like £50 each month and nearly £30 of that is interest or so he says but this sounds right,we want to get a 0% or something lower than we are paying to balance transfer it onto but my question is,is there anyway we can get it in my name(good credit history and better than my partners) even though i am the one who stays at home with our daughter and am 8 months pregnant but could we put his income as household income because obviously all our money goes together,i get the tax credits into my account but nothing else and we dont get any other benefits.we didnt know if this would be allowed and didnt want to put false claims when applying. We dont want a credit card to spend on,just one to balance transfer the barclays onto.Sorry if that makes no sense,i hope it does
Thanks in advance.

You need to look at the specific wording of the application.
Some ask for your salary that would obviously be a problem, however others ask for total household income which would be in your favour.
Others might be able to suggest which providers ask for total household income.0 -
thankyou for the help.we said that we thought that this was what we would have to look out for,we knew we wouldnt be able to put salary but obviously household income would be good, would we be alloed to include our tax creds in that??
It would be great if people could help which companies ask for household
Thanks again

Yes that would count as household income.
Sorry I don't know which specific cards ask for Household Income over Salary but hopefully someone else will.0 -
Do you have a card from your bank at all?
They should be able to tell you whether you qualify (and what offers they have) without doing a search on you.0 -
Hiya,
I thought about going to my own bank but then i thought I wont have a chance because I moved banks 3 months ago after being with my old bank for my whole life because was having alot of trouble with all of a sudden dd going out on wrong days etc and so i moved to barclays which is the same bank as my partners so that we could transfer money easily to each other instead of getting a joint account because obviously he is the wage earner so he transfers money to my account for certain bills in my name etc so i dont think that would be an option especially when it is a barclay card we are trying to pay off.
lol that is how i feel at the minute,i didnt realise we were paying so much interest until he told me.

Banks tend to be easy targets for such things as ''all of a sudden dd going out on wrong days'' - your bank is not involved in this - it is the beneficiary that asks for the money and as long as there a mandate in place to pay they will do so.
Hope you find a card soon - you could ask your new bank the worst thing that can happen is that they say no.0 -
yes sorry i should have made that more clear,i do know it isnt the banks fault, however i did have an issue with the bank over trying to work out when payments were due etc and to be honest I didnt appreciate going into the bank to set an account up for my dd to be asked why i didnt have life cover and then made to feel bad for not having it(sorry thats offtopic,I just wanted to make it clear that i do understand that the banks arent to blame for dds changing etc). It was an issue with BT and misscommunication between the 2 of them when BT decided they wanted to change payment dates,it didnt matter to me when it came out aslong as i could budget for it as didnt want to have missed payments etc but i felt it would be easier to be at the same bank as my partner anyway.i still have the other account open and like i said i have a good credit history although i am only young so hopefully I will find something.
Thankyou for your help

When I applied for my MBNA platinum card online, it asked for total household income.
Virgin would probably be the same as they are both MBNA.
I just got 0% for 12 months with MBNA, not sure if Virgin has 15 months offer at the moment or not though (I already have Virgin)
Usually give a decent limit too0 -
Thankyou,I will go and have a look at that now,ive never had a credit card before so didnt really know where to look.It would be good if we could get around a year so we could pay a big lump of this off and by that time i will be back at work so it will be more manageable anyway.
Thankyou
