Capital One Platinum 0% deal

Well I just got my new Capital One Platinum card through this morning and as mentioned previously, apart from only getting the deal up to May 09 to add insult to injury they have only given me a pathetic £2000 credit limit. That is the same amount I was given for my very first credit card when I started working over 30 years ago
I suppose I am not totally surprised given what I have read on here about Capital One but it has still totally pi@@ed me off! Its to their loss in the end though as I was also seriously considering opening up a couple of savings account with them.

hmm, this one has got me wondering what i will get! i applied last night and got accepted, but have since been told that after when the paper credit agreement comes through in the post, its often for a shorter period and not till november 09?
given that i printed a copy of the credit agreement when the web said congrats i ahve been accepted (and it mentions november 2009?, does this mean they can still change it when it is mailed to me?
also how quick are they for sending the card out after application? as i am wanting to book a couple of flights to the states for next year (hence trying for the application, i ahve the savings, but if i can get it interest free credit i will do that instead of taking the savings out of the account and pay the flights off over the months of the deal)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Hi,
It happenned to me a couple of days ago. I think that this 0% offer is just the carrot to lure people to apply to Capital One, but once they apply, vast majority of people get offered worse deal.
I have excellent credit history, own my house outright, but I still didn't get it. Instead, I was offered 0% till May 09 at 24% APR. Of course, I told them where to stuff their card:mad: .
I immediately (like 5 minutes later) applied for Halifax credit card at 0% for 10 months at 15% APR. Got it approved straight away and am now waiting for my card to arrive. Ironically, the credit limit I got from Halifax was twice as high as the one I got offered from Capital One, so Halifax turned out much better for me.
As for the question about can you cancel at the later stage. I think you can, because you still have to sign the papers and send them off in order to get your card. As whether they can change your offer in the meantime, I don't think so, if you got approved, you got approved, but you never know with the banks.
I don't know about Capital One, but my Halifax papers arrived one day after I applied and got approved over the Internet, so I signed them off and sent them yesterday. I believe that my card will arrive within next couple of weeks.0 -
I have just applied for this card and it has reffered me. I normally get no problems at all getting credit so I was suprised.
I wonder whether I will get this card or they will offer me something else?Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
i am just wondering if they send the card i am apparently accepted for, what the credit limit would be, as i am hoping for £1500 at least as i want to put some flights on it to visit relatives to canada next year (aprox £600) and to book my trip to paris and a few excustions (which will be aprox £800, though some of that will be my friends half who will be paying me installments)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0

Wow. One of the few people that actually managed to get this "so called" card that they offered. And all along we all thought that this was just a marketing lure they used.

I have had this problem with them in the past. Applied for a good deal, been accepted and then sent a much less appealing card. I phoned to tell them there was no way I would have applied for the card they gave me and got them to remove the search from my file.0
