Cancelling unused store cards

in Credit cards
After using the quick credit checker tool, I realised I have some store cards I never use and should therefore cancel. Should be no problem with my Argos and Style cards, but my question is, I used to have a New Look card several years ago, which I can't even remember if I ever used. I don't think I still have the card, or even any statements (unless they are well hidden away somewhere). Would the account still be open as I haven't heard from them in at least the last three years, and probably even longer (that's as far back as I remember!)? Also, I have an account with Simply Be: does this count as a store card even though there is no actual card? I thought when I signed up I had to have an account to buy from the website, even though I'd rather pay by debit card (I pay the account by debit card anyway). Any help appreciated!
Edit: Just checked SimplyBe's FAQs - apparently it is necessary to have an account to place an order, but optional whether or not to use the credit facilities. But will just having the credit available effect my credit rating? And if so, it's a bit rubbish that you can't order from this company without this happening!

You could get your credit reports (3) and see if it's on there.
Equifax and Experian do free trials which you must cancel if you don't want to continue paying or pay £2 each for your statutory report.
Call credit can be gotten free from

No, but it will count as a "credit account" on your credit report. But will just having the credit available effect my credit rating?
If you pay it off on time, then it shouldn't have an effect (only good one as it's shows good management). And if so, it's a bit rubbish that you can't order from this company without this happening!
Go to the shops then :-)
Personally I much prefer only buying stuff that fits rather than packing it up, sending it back etc.
Unless you are disabled or are tied to the house then I'd recommend real shops.
You don't buy anything unless you know it fits.0
