Ebay have sent me an alert stating that the person who one did not have the account holders permission. The mesage stated that the item would reappear in unsold items but had just disappeared. Its not in unsold or sold???
Also why can I not just offer to the second highest bidder instead of having to relist.Would appreciate any advice as this has not happened before.Thanks- This was the message:
Dear xxxx
Thank you for listing the following items on eBay. We have removed these listings and will credit all fees to your account because it has come to our attention that the items were bought without the account owner's authorisation. We are now restoring the account to its owner.
xxxxxx xxxx
Please be assured that there is no negative mark on your account because of this. We only removed your listing so that we could credit all of your Insertion and Final Value Fees and prevent any further problems arising such as Unpaid Item disputes or negative feedback.
The items should be shown in the "Unsold" section of My eBay and you are free to relist them from there.
Note: We will credit all fees for these listings to your account, however it may take up to ten days for all the Insertion and Final Value Fee credits to be shown on your account status page.
Thank you for your understanding in this difficult matter. If you have any questions or require assistance, you can contact us from any eBay Help page.

It sounds like whoever "bought" the item from you did it through a "hijacked" or stolen Ebay account. (Yes those "phishing" emails the bad guys send round do work every now and then and this is how they get hold of accounts, happened to me a long time ago)
Anyways - it sounds like Ebay just forgot to put it back in unsold. Send them an email or go on their live chat. They areusually pretty good in helping.0 -
eBay won't put it in your "Unsold" items, it has gone forever! I've had this a few times, most recently last Sunday with a mobile 'phone. Even though I had it listed as a UK only listing, someone used a hijacked US eBay account to win it last minute. By the time I looked, the listing had been removed after it had finished. Normally that's it, gone off of the system for good and you will need to relist it from scratch, but I received an email from eBay telling me it would be in my "Unsold Items". However when I queried this, they told me that this is not the case and the email was an error.
The reason they give for removing the listing is to protect all parties, mainly the hijacked account, from negative feedback. Or as eBay claim,
"Keeping the
original listing on the site so that you can offer a Second Chance Offer
to another bidder, gives the third party the chance to leave you
negative feedback. This greatly concerns me as I know how important it
is for you to maintain a clean and positive feedback."
Not much help I know, but at least it hopefully answers your question?0 -
Had this reply from Ebay- clear as mud but does not explain why they state it is in unsold when it is not:
Hello,
Thank you for your reply to our email notice. I understand that your
white jumper listing , that was recently removed from
eBay, is not showing on your "Unsold" section of My eBay.
I realise that we have mentioned in our email notice that the item
should show on your "Unsold" section and that you can relist it from
there. I am aware of the inconvenience this may have caused as not all
items removed from the site are available for the new relist feature. I
can assure you that we have now submitted this report to the appropriate
department who handles such concern.
You will need to relist the white jumper again as you can no longer
offer this to the next highest bidder. Unfortunately, we will not be
able to automatically relist the item for you. You have to list using
the Sell Your Item form or your normal listing tool such as Turbo
Lister.
What we usually recommend sellers like you is to save a backup copy of
any listings posted on eBay. Selling tools such as Turbo Lister or
Selling Manager will do this for you automatically. You could also paste
the HTML of each listing, or even just your basic template into a file
and save it for future reference.
Please understand that you can no longer offer this to the next highest
bidder. We removed your listing to prevent any further problems not just
for the account holder whose account was compromised but also for you.
If we had left the listing on the site you would have been able to make
a Second Chance Offer to another bidder which may look like the most
convenient thing to do. However, this will cause a great deal of
misunderstanding that can even lead to the third party leaving you a
negative feedback. Remember that your mobile phone was won by a third
party using another member's account so if you just go ahead and give
Second Chance Offer, your next bidder won't be able to give you the
feedback you deserve because it will appear that the item was sold to
the highest bidder who happens to be the fraudulent buyer.
Another drawback of not removing your listing is you would also have to
file an Unpaid Item dispute to claim a credit for your Final Value Fee.
This process takes time and the buyer must either confirm your mutual
withdrawal from the sale or receive an Unpaid Item strike.
As a fellow eBay member and seller, I am aware of the inconvenience to
have a listing removed by eBay when you cannot easily relist it through
the "Unsold" section and offer it to other bidders. Sellers like you who
are selling in good faith might send the item or continue with the
transaction only to find out that you will not be paid. Because eBay has
removed the item, it would be considered as a transaction outside eBay.
Transactions completed outside of the eBay website are not covered by
our Feedback system or buyer protection programmes. We are just avoiding
the possibility of you being defrauded by a third party that's why we
immediately removed your listing as we feel this is the best protection
we could give our sellers.
Lastly, you can always review your bidders before the auction ends, and
anyone who seems suspicious you may wish to email and cancel their bid.
As a precaution, if you are using the "Buy It Now" option, you may also
wish to disable the option for high priced items such as designer
shirts. This gives you control over who gets to bid on your item.
I see that this may not be the answer you'd hoped for, but I trust that
you can understand our position. We appreciate your patience in this
matter.
Kind regards,
Vicki Larson
