External Hard Drive question - Help please?

Recently when I switched on my external hard drive it came up in 'My Computer' as the 'F' drive.
This is where I have stored my iTunes library.
Lately when I have switched it on it is showing up as the 'G' drive and when I go into iTunes none of my music is there.
How does the system allocate the drive letter and how can I get it to stick on the 'F' drive for this external disk?
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

Assuming Win XP, plug in the external drive, then:
Control Panel > Administrative tools > Computer Management > Disk Management
Right click on your external drive, and you can then change drive letter and paths, which should "stick" and be remembered from then on.Russia is HERE0 -
I will try that tonight.
