I always avoid the street with Ann Summers on when I take DD to town ... I'm not trying to explain mummy can't go shopping in there with her even if it does look like an underwear shop :rotfl::rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I know exactly what you mean! Let them stay young and innocent for a bit longer. It's ridiculous, the way some kids are pushed into growing up. Oh this is one of my hobby horses!
What I would like is...just let them play out, and get messy...and grow up at their own pace!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

And the ambitions they have now. I mean - what kind of an ambition is
'I want to be famous' for doing what? and even worse, I felt 'I want to be a footballer's wife!!!!!' And women fought for liberation OMGDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

It's very rare they actually want to BE something. The boys want to be famous footballers and the girls want to marry them. I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall! They'll all be on here in 10-15 years up to their eyes in debt. So few people say NO to their kids any more. They are doing them no favours. Trouble is, on this thread, I am preaching to the converted!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Soappie and Valli, thanks, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Problem with studying especially during the schol hools (why oh why the OU year runs Feb-October I don't know, flippin idiots!) is it's late on I can fit it in, when DS1s awake but not bouncing, well sometimes, he's still bouncing now, actually they are both still up. I just can't concentrate when the boys are bouncing about, which starts at around 5am, getting up even earlier would be impossible I think as it takes me until about 8am before I am awake. I've talked a lot to DP about him watching the boys while I study now he's jacked his in altogether (it was worse when both of us were trying to tbh) and while we're away I'm going to have at least 5 study hours (we're away 5 days) where he does something with them. See how that goes first. I think I've decided to jack the one in I'm really far behind with, partly OUs fault as have had problems with dispatch from day 1 which means I have spent all my time chasing my tail. G&B understand what you mean about studying at a proper uni/college, I would if I could guarantee being well enough to do it, which is where the last time I tried went wrong.
Sexymouse that looks wonderful! DPs been on about going to Eygpt lately, DS1s a bit mad on anything to do with Ancient Egypt, got DP fascinated too.
Davgirl hope your back is feeling better soon x
Valli, kids say some wonderful things, here's mine from yesterday - DS1 who is so blatent and has no empathy at all - DS2 jumps out to suprise Grandad, Grandad says 'You scared the life out of me there' DS1 says 'Careful Grandad doesn't have many years of life left!' His wife nearly wet herself laughing, wouldn't mind but he's only 50 :rotfl:
Just been crossing my list off, bloomin Mr T only missed one item off (amazing how many correct things you get when you refuse substitutions here) which I needed tonight to make stuff to take with us, so dragged the boys to the Coop, they were miffed having to walk over there at 7pm but tough my cars behind the caravan.
Anyway, done most of my list, need to rotate the laundry on the airers for the stuff that's just come out, another washerload in, still more to do, I hate washing! Just stuff like the awning etc to throw in tomorrow, oh and the curry/bol sauce when it's frozen. Think I might make some sandwiches for tomorrows lunch, save me having people moaning for food and trying to make it while we're trying to set up, see I'm learning as I go along
If I don't get chance to pop in tomorrow, I'll see you when I'm 30 eeeek!!!! Thursday I will be thinking of you all and drinking far too much (told DP we're taking the awning down on Thursday morning as I'm not doing it with a hangover on Friday) Big hugs for you all, hope you all have a lovely week x x x x x x x x
One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
My daughter wants to be a popstar, or a train driver  She can sing and she loves trains so we'll just have to wait and see.
My house is going to stink tomorrow - DD stood in dogmuck on Thursday and I got the worst off and but with taking her to ex's yesterday I completely forgot about having to have a go at the remains of it in the treads (she would have to step in it wearing her hiking boots, not her almost smooth trainers  ) so the one thats covered in it is currently soaking in hot water and star drops. I'll attack it with something tomorrow, as I can't face it now.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

I'm not the most organised person (No! Really? I hear you all saying - but one thing I did (because photographs aren't my top priority) is, when my kids started to come out with these funny things was I got a notebook and I wrote them down! The really brilliant thing - to my surprise - is that these little, scribbled notes jog my memory and I can remember some of the funniest things. The reason I am so astounded by my son suddenly being copied by younger boys is that, when he was smaller he thought his own male cousin, 5 years older, was the bees knees. He copied his cousin slavishly - and now DS is the hero!
Like the time he had a helium filled (but ordinary, given free balloon, and he wanted to do something so he put his balloon down! 'But I put it here!!!'
Mind you DS gets very tetchy if I share her pearls of wisdom. My life won't be worth living if she logs onto this thread!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
