Blue264 are you sure about the prices? I often travel that route and a day return (after 09:30) is usually approx £20. To travel at 08:38 is commuter time and would have commuter prices ....not £4 even if booked 7 days in advance. The cost of the coach (bus) to London is over £10 return!

Trains from this neck of the woods only go into Paddington, Annie. An alternative would be to change at Reading then you can go to Clapham Junction and Waterloo.

Paddington's OK, Annie as it's got lots of tube lines running through it. The Bakerloo'll have you as central as you could wish in about 10-15 mins. Make sure you get a day's travelcard as well.

:T thanks dzug1, took your advice. booked with first great western at
£8 for two of us to Paddington and for £12 for two of us back to Oxford
No. booking fee, (raileasy was £2.00 each way) and no. cc charge
(raileasy was about 80p) so i saved nearly a fiver. Also if you need to contact by phone Raileasy was £1. a minute. greedy gits.

Thanks to all for the help and we will take up suggestions for days out.

hi guys, just to let yu know we had a fabulous time, just got back tonight.
did millets farm, and abbeyfields where there was a horsy thing going on
went into oxford for the day and window shopped. went to London on another day and sailed down the Thames on a hop off, hop on boat, got off at the Tower and had the best Fish and Chips there including a can of coke for 5 quid, who said london was rip off, well saying that over the other side near the Wheel wihch had a 2 hour waiting time ( we dindnt wait) an ice cream was needed but for 1 scoop at £3., 2 scoops for £4, and 3 scoops for £5.00 we declined the offer because the man wasnt wearing a mask which we think he should have done. All in all a lovely break. and a mention of the Rowen Guest Housej ust outside the abingdon centre, (lovely little place) on the Oxford Road, excellent service, spotlessly clean, brilliant breakfasts and much attention to detail, at £60 a night for two couldnt fault them and we are fussy. Thanks for all your tips and things, kncrd now and orf to bed, some of us have work in the morning
