  • give them to charity
  • I think Thomson shops will take old coins. Also LloydsTsb used to take currency for charity.

  • HELP?

I have just found my 'well hidden emergency Holiday money'...alas is in Pesetas (10,000 to be precise)..........

Any idea what I can do with it?
    Can I exchange for Euros?

  • Yes, donate it to charity (it's easiest) - I know it's worth about £60.

Look at http://www.euro.gov.uk/keyfacts.asp it seems only the Spanish Central Bank will accept them now. No ideas how you go about doing that though.

I know that you can still change old German Marks into Euros. They have to be sent to the German central bank who will then send the equivalent in Euros back. So, it may be possible to do the same in Spain. Probably will be a hassle so best to give it to charity unless you've got a lot of money there.
  • Banks In Big Citys Will Still Change notes, such a Malaga on the Costa Del Sol
  • Thanks all.

Looks like charity - as I dont think I'll be going back to Spain for a while.

It has given me another thought - how much pre-Euro money must be lying in peoples wallets/desks/drawers etc.....

I may see If i can get everyone at my work to rake it all out and then give it to one of the charities that can put it to a good use.

Does anyone know which charities still accept 'old money'? Do they only take notes? or do they take coins as well?

I work at Oxfam and they will certainly take old currency, both notes and coins. What we do in our shop is wait till we have a large amount of the stuff and then send it off to head office.

1500 is less than a tenner. Hardly worth the hassle.
