Got an email from kaupthing today which says that I need to forward my documents to: FREEPOST KAUPTHING EDGE

Is this the right address and does it require a stamp?

    YES & NO!

    Correct address, No stamp required!

  • Damn! I've been putting a stamp on my letters with the documents they require in and there was a Freepost address all the time!

If you are sending original documents you should consider using special delivery rather than freepost - things still go astray in the post and special delivery is the only guaranteed service with decent compensation

The documents they require are copies of your passport or driving license, together with proof of address with a utility bill. Therefore, the freepost service should be fine (we used it no probs).

I've got a letter sat here to post to them so am I right in thinking I can take off the stamp and write FREEPOST on the envelope? :D

Sounds like it, write out a new envelope with FREEPOST KAUPTHING EDGE on it? I haven't had to send them anything (I guess I applied when they could check everything online) so I've never been given/requested an address to write to them with...

It's only the R85 form I need to send to them so not the end of the world if it doesn't arrive, I'll just send another ;)

I was very concerned that a freepost address could be tampered with and with all my personal docs enclosed! However, the post office did not recognise the one line freepost address whilst trying to arrange a Recorded delivery. So, I phoned KE who gave me an address for all Recorded delivery mail:
KAUPTHING EDGE, PO BOX 9403, NOTTINGHAM, NG9 9DR
    Phone-0203 205 5000.

But, that is just their normal address, and presumably the same one you were attempting to send FREEPOST?
