I would say yes. I have mine connected. It updates its firmware when connected. Online gaming is also excellent (e.g. Mario Kart) and you can download old games to play offline. You can also check the weather with it but that is of limited use.
  • yeah, definitely. especially for the virtual console games. it's cool.

Dont forget you can message friends who also have a Wii connected and your Mii's can travel to different Wii's as well.

    Lots of fun :rotfl:

Definately, you can download 'character' Mii's people have made, download Virtuak Console games and play online games. Get it connected to the net and then buy Mario Kart online, it's great.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Depends on what games you have, really. Games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros. can be played online. The firmware updates mentioned above aren't that important, I don't think Nintendo give release notes saying what the firmware changes, and most games come with whichever firmware version is needed to run it.

You've probably noticed with the console came a piece of paper with a scratch-off code on here, talking about nintendo stars. Follow the link, register an account on the website and put the code in and you'll have some stars. You can then trade the stars for Wii Points, which you can use to buy virtual console titles, or the internet browser if you want it. You can also get nintendo stars when you buy any Nintendo game (Doesn't mean Wii game, means a game developed by nintendo).

Some of the virtual console games (Like N64 ones) won't play with just the wiimote/nunchuck, you'll either need a gamecube controller or the classic controller.
  • Don't forget internet browsing.. you can buy a browser (3 quid) so you can view webpages

You can view BBC Iplayer and Youtube over this

Mario Kart is amazing online... extends the game's life indefinitely

I got it free*. Mainly use it for the BBC iPlayer, so I can watch old TV on my TV.

*Using years of carefully hoarded nintendo stars.
