Creative Zen 4Gb

I got a creative Zen several weeks back and have been copying stuff onto it but for some reason today I just can not copy anything onto it. I have 'recovered' and 'rebooted' the zen, I defintely have the latest firmware. I have installed and uninstalled the software on my PC but everytime I try to copy to it (photos, videos or music) it just sits there .. the arrows on the Zen spin but the 'copy progress bar' on my PC does nothing.

Can anybody help or is it a case of send it back?

PS: No iPod jokes, since the Zen is a replacement for the Ipod that failed after a couple of months.

the zens are usually quite spot on, are you p;ositive your using it correctly?(no offence) i had problems with mine at first

So did I, can't remember what the problem was but I went and used Windows Media Music to transfer the music and that worked fine.

Have you tried just dragging and dropping files onto it using My Computer rather than the zen software? If that doesn;t work it might at least give you an error message you can work on.

What version of firmware do you have? PlaysForSure or Creative Jukebox?

With my 6Gb Zen Micro, the latest firmware is PlaysForSure, which is ironic, because it's crap and doesn't transfer, no matter what software I use. I have to revert to the older jukebox firmware / drivers, which work fine with winamp, windows media player, or whatever. I understand I'm not alone in this position

Well I purchased one from my catalogue two weeks ago and have had no problems with it, did not even install any software or drivers just true plug and play, may I ask what Operating system and service pack you are using and what software you are using to manage the device please?

Thanks guys, I have tried transferring on both my laptops (no software installed (as per Rocky)) and on my desktop with the Zen explorer and windows explorer ... all using XP SP2. The firmware version on the Zen is the latest one (1.21.01, as per the zen site) and I have tried recovery mode

Over the last few weeks I have previously been able to copy loads of music and photos to/from it .. but yesterday it just point blank refused to co-operate. After several minutes of 'hanging' on my laptop I got a 'file is in use error' (which it was not) and on my desktop I got an 'unknown error: 0x802A0006'. I can copy files FROM the ZEN just not TO it????

We have had several Windoze updates in the last two weeks, would you be willing to do a roll back(system restore) to just before the problem started? I am reading the forums and it seems that it may be a microsoft issue, not 100% sure but give it a try, don't forget to create a restore point for today first though so you can come back if it doesn't work, have a go and let us know.
